Murphy Spring Festival

Murphy Spring Festival

One of my favorite shows is Gilmore Girls. For those of you who don’t know, the Gilmore Girls live in Stars Hollow which is maybe one of the quaintest, cutest, and most interesting fantastical tv small town portrayals. The town is always banding together to raise money or celebrate something. That kind of vibe is my small town dream and lucky for me, Murphy gives Stars Hollow a run for its money.

The Murphy Spring Festival was this weekend and it was incredible. We, for the first time in our team’s history, showed up EARLY to set up. Fortuitous for us since it quickly got packed & busy. The event was supposed to run from 12pm-8pm but by 11:15 people were already beginning to arrive and wander through the booths.

Can we talk about how great all the vendors were?

Of course, Specialties by Sadie killed it! She was so proud of how well her booth did and how many key chains and hand made beaded items that she sold. In her words, “I can’t believe I own my own business at 9 years old.”

Calamity Jean Flannel was right across from us and I found my new favorite wardrobe item that you will probably see me wear out all the time.

I scored a bag of freshly roasted “Uganda” arabica from Mountain Fresh Roasters,  Cookies from Heritage Tallow Shoppe, and Autumn’s husband got her a beautiful hat from Scavenger Creations (@Amandamurray

We were so busy at our RE/MAX Town & Country booth. And it wasn’t just our Autumn Ritz Team pen’s that attracted attention (although they are stunning and incredible writing instruments).

The balloon dome was a hit! The kids loved it, and so did the parents. The unexpected bonus that they found was that

  1. It was a free kids activity
  2. The kids were obsessed with it and most were happy to stay in for as long as they could
  3. The dome muffles sound so despite the screaming (happy) and playing the observers outside couldn’t hear it very well. 🙂

Adults were not immune from the joy of the balloon dome. Even the mayor stopped by for a quick photoshoot inside

The balloon dome is something that will be making an appearance at future events.  As parent’s and aunties ourselves we fully appreciate a kids activity that is free, occupies the kids, and muffles the joyous high pitched sounds.

Can we talk about the food? The food trucks were mouth-wateringly good. I honestly can’t name all the ones we ate from  because we ladies were super busy with everyone coming by and so the men went out and hunted/gathered food for us. All I know is everything was incredible. Also, have you ever had “roasted onion” flavored kettle corn? ⅔ of us recommend it. Murphy’s best and brightest were showcased in the Beer Garden (and our men really really loved the Beer Garden)

Three cheers to The Murphy Business Association for sponsoring the Spring Festival. Can’t wait for next year’s festival!
