In The Beginning
Buying a home: the American Dream. It’s a simple phrase, and all the reality shows we binge can make it seem super simple and uncomplicated.
This past year I’ve worked with clients with budget ranges all over the spectrum, from fifteen thousand dollar lots to two million dollar properties.
What do they have in common? The same questions.
These are grown adults, successful business people. Most of them have purchased a home before in years past. And yet, the process can be confusing and hard to navigate.
It’s something that resonates with me because I had all these questions and more when I bought my first home. And I was a Realtor. I had been in the business for 5 years. And still I was
completely blindsided by some of the process.
So here’s the point of this first blog. My clients in the past year ranged in professions. Teachers, Contractors, Surgeons; Talented, educated, trained people. And even they didn’t know what they didn’t know.
So this is what you need to know.
You are not an idiot.
The process IS overwhelming.
There are no dumb questions.
I know some people are hesitant to reach out and ask because they don’t want to be added to a mailing list, or don’t want to waste anyone’s time. But they still have the questions. So we’re going to try to answer some in the next few blogs and completely break down the entire process from the first thought of “can I buy a home?” to closing day and beyond.
We are going to break down the costs, the expectations, and if you decide to use a realtor what you should expect in terms of costs and time periods. I’ll also explain all the jargon that you’ll hear like “earnest money” and “due diligence period”.
And if you have any specific questions,
Know that we’re here to answer them no matter where you are in the process.
